PDF editors for Mac without a subscription

To edit PDFs on a Mac without paying every year, you have three kinds of choice. Preview comes with macOS and fills, signs and combines PDFs, but can't change their text. A one-time licence, such as Latte PDF from $9.99 or PDF Expert's Lifetime licence at $139.99 for the Mac, edits the text itself. Subscriptions, such as Adobe Acrobat from $179.88 a year or PDF Expert's yearly plans, add more tools and other devices for a yearly fee.

What "no subscription" means

With a one-time licence you pay once and keep using the version you bought, with nothing to renew. Updates differ: Latte PDF gives free updates to everything you bought, and brand-new features may be offered separately; PDF Expert's pricing page says new features may come at an extra cost for Lifetime.

A subscription keeps the app working only while you pay. In return it usually covers more devices and adds services such as cloud storage or AI.
